The Alberta Envirothon is a high school competition where teams compete on their knowledge of environmental science and natural resources through a series of field station and written tests that put their teamwork and problem solving skills to the test, and an oral presentation where teams present their solution to a complex environmental issue.

The competition scoring is based on the following components:

Field Station Tests:

1.       Aquatic Ecology – 100 points

2.       Forestry – 100 points

3.       Soils and Land Use – 100 points

4.       Wildlife – 100 points

5.       Current Issue – 100 points

Oral Presentation:

6.       Based on a scenario provided relating to the current issue – 200 points

Final team placements will be determined by adding the 5 station test scores to the final oral presentation score.  Awards are provided to teams with the top three highest scores out of 700 total points.
